The Task

(An Original Story for People who are in Doubt)

In an oasis in the middle of the Arabian Desert, there were forty servants bound to follow a master. They swore to follow their master without fail. One blazing day, the master instructed the servants to cut down two trees, tie it and drag it across the desert. The servant obliged. They separated into two groups consisting of twenty members so each group can have one tree. These two groups are led by Igneel and Grandine. As they dragged the trees deeper in the desert, Grandine’s group paced down slowly and started complaining.

“The tree is so heavy. Let’s cut it in half so it’ll be lighter. I am sure the master won’t mind.” Said Grandine.

They cut the tree in half and it indeed became lighter thus, they continued pulling. Igneel’s group felt the toll of the weight and eventually overtaken by Grandine’s group. Though tired, they continued to pull.

“We are servants after all, we are tasked to pull this tree. We should not cut this tree in half so it will be
worthy of our master’s delight.” Said Igneel.

As they pulled their trees across the desert, the servants can smell something salty.

“The sea!” shouted Grandine who’s group is far ahead than Igneel’s.

“We must be near! Come on! Pull harder.” Shouted Grandine.

As they approached the shore, they saw the master.

“At ease, my friends. Take your time to rest as we wait for your brothers.” Said the master.

When Igneel’s Group arrived, the master gave them rest and fed them. After awhile, they are gathered to hear the master’s next instructions.

“It seems one of these trees are cut in half.” Said the Master.

“Yes, master, for it is so heavy.” Said Grandine.

“For those of you who cut their tree in half, you have to cut another tree and drag it here. We are going to build rafts from these trees. Since you cut your tree, you won’t be able to build a raft that can accommodate all of you. Go back. Build a raft and follow us north.” Said the master.

Shamed, Grandine’s group went back to cut another tree.

“As for those of you who remained faithful, I will be sailing with you into paradise.” Said the master.

To: UM Information and Tech Support
From: V.D Planilla, Bachelor of Arts in Political Science
Subject: University’s Information Relay

As a transferee, I find it difficult to gain access the university’s vital announcements such as school events and class cancellations. It is very important for students to grasp these informations on time to avoid wasting time and potential threats.
In the near future, please develop a functional information distribution system which students will not have difficulty whatsoever. Also, you may take advantage of social media and other ways of communication. Thank you so much.

Duterte's Administration

Rodrigo Roa Duterte, the former mayor of Davao city is the sixteenth President of the Republic of the Philippines. Even in his time as a mayor, he is already renowned for his sense of justice and his devil-may-care way of doing things. During his first few months in office, despite media bashes, for the first time since the Magsaysay administration, people can actually feel the change of the tides of Philippine politics. Abusive officials are fired, the PNP is overhauled, and lingering historical disputes are alleviated. Love him or hate him, no one can deny that change had come.
